Former GOP presidential contender Ben Carson has unveiled his endorsement of a Republican hoping to succeed Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate.
Carson, a Floridian, has endorsed Congressman Ron DeSantis.
“I am pleased to endorse Ron DeSantis for U.S. Senate,” Carson said in making his endorsement. “Ron is a thoughtful man of strong character and faith who has served our country in the military and who is dedicated to restoring America’s founding principles.”

DeSantis will square off against fellow Republicans Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, businessman Todd Wilcox, Congressman David Jolly and Carlos Beruff in the Aug. 30 primary.
