The Central Florida League Winter 2016 Softball Season Finals came to an end on Tuesday with the conclusion of the post-season tournament.
In the semi-final games Fross & Fross defeated Harlan Insurance 12-4.
Fross got 2 hits each from: Carl McWilliams, Jim Wheeler, John Buchanan, Jim Joseph and Dave Pope. Fross put the game out of reach with a 5 run bottom of the 5th inning with the bottom half of the order getting 6 straight hits. Harlan, who lost their clean-up batter, Craig Dahlquist to a turned ankle in the bottom of the first, got a pair of hits by Charles Clare, Ray Bedford, and Tom Ceglie.
The other semi-final saw the number one seed and regular season champions Softball’s R Game fall to Synergy Wealth 11-10 in 8 innings.
Synergy was led by the 3 hits of Jim Creed and Rick Fredieu, while John Reedy, Dick Adams, Vernon Brooks, Dan Kincaid, and Dave Williams added 2 apiece. Softball’s R Game got 4 hits, including a 2 run homer, from Scott Marshall, Don Mulneix and Gerry Street. Dick Smith and Bill Dunkley each had a pair of hits in the loss.
The championship game saw Fross & Fross defeat Synergy 7-3.
Fross had 3 hits from John Buchanan including a 3 run homer in the sixth. Carl McWilliams and John Gouin added a pair of hits for the winners. Synergy got a pair of hits from: Rick Duemler and manager Vernon Brooks. John Reedy had a triple to drive in a run and scored on the sacrifice fly by Dick Adams to account for 2 of the three runs scored in the 4th inning.
The CFL starts summer league play on May 10.
