An 84-year-old Wildwood man has died as the result of an accident this past weekend in which his car was trapped under a trailer towed by a semi truck.
Clayton J. Tripp died at Ocala Regional Medical Center. His wife, 85-year-old Janice Tripp, remains in serious condition at ORMC. Their daughter, 58-year-old Diane Tripp of North Royalton, Ohio, also remains in serious condition at ORMC.
The accident occurred at 5:40 a.m. Saturday on SR44 in Wildwood when Tripp’s 2012 Chevy Malibu collided with the semi tractor trailer truck. The three had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The semi, driven by 32-year-old Erwin Howard Williams of Springfield, Mo., had been eastbound on SR44 and was making a U-turn to travel westbound on SR44 toward Interstate 75, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The car had been traveling westbound in the inside travel lane and struck the center of the trailer and was wedged underneath it.
Williams was cited for violation of right-of-way.
