Community Development District 8 Supervisor Dennis Hayes has filed for re-election on a board that has seen a number of changes in the past several months.

Hayes filed his re-election paperwork on Wednesday with the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections Office.

Fellow CDD 8 incumbent Sal Torname filed his re-election paperwork last year.

CDD 8 Supervisor Victor Ray resigned last week after announcing he was moving out of The Villages. You can read about his reason for leaving The Villages HERE. Applications are being accepted for his replacement which will be filled by appointment. As of Thursday, no applications have been received at the District Office.

CDD 8 Supervisor Ray Banks resigned earlier this year after he said he was targeted in a vicious email campaign. You can read more about that HERE. Duane Johnson, who lost the seat in 2014 to Banks, was appointed to the CDD 8 board in the wake of Banks’ resignation.

This past October, Joe Elliott resigned his supervisor’s seat after he moved out of CDD 8. He is now a candidate for the Wildwood Commission. Phil Walker, who had represented CDD 8 on the Architectural Review Committee, was appointed to fill the vacancy created by Elliott’s resignation.
