A fence will be constructed to limit golf cart access to a stormwater retention pond across from Lake Miona Recreation Center.

The area has become popular with dog walkers, fishermen, sunset watchers and others.

However, golf carts have taken their toll on the grass, according to District Property Manager Sam Wartinebee.

The Project Wide Advisory Committee, which includes representation from Community Development Districts 5 through 10, on Monday morning looked at the situation and concluded that a fence would be the best solution to block golf cart access to the area. Pedestrian access will still be permitted.

The three-board fence will cost less than $4,000 to construct.
