A Villager jumped into his golf cart and tried to flee police Monday night after approaching a woman in a restaurant in violation of a court order.
Andre A. Robinson, 43, who resides on San Maria Street in the Village of Rio Grande, went to Gator’s Dockside in Spanish Springs on Monday night and approached a woman who has obtained a court order to keep him at least 500 feet away from her, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The woman had been sitting at a table with a male friend when Robinson allegedly approached them. Robinson tried to start an argument with the woman’s male friend. She told police that Robinson told her “it would be the last time” anyone would see her “pretty face again,” the report said.
When police arrived on the scene, Robinson attempted to flee in a golf cart. The squad car had its lights and siren activated in pursuit of the golf cart which sped to the parking lot of the nearby Holiday Inn Express. When he realized there was no way out of the parking lot, Robinson reportedly hit his brakes and the golf cart hit a curb. He then fled on foot, but was soon apprehended.
Robinson was arrested on charges of violation of an injunction and fleeing to elude a police officer. He was booked at the Lake County Jail.
The golf cart was towed from the scene.
