An employee at Beall’s at Southern Trace shopping plaza in The Villages was arrested Thursday after she allegedly took merchandise from the store on two occasions.

Ebonee Dunlap, 24, of Wildwood, on April 18 took a Guess purse and a Guess wallet to the register she was cashiering. She scanned both items and then applied a discount for a total of $0.00. She then took the items out of the store at the end of shift, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, at the same store, she retrieved a pair of Sperry shoes, a pair of children’s Levi shorts and a Nautica children’s clothing set from the sales floor. She removed the tags from the items and placed them in a shopping bag underneath the counter. She then clocked out of work three hours early and left without any attempt to pay for the items, the arrest report indicated.

She is facing charges of shoplifting and petit theft. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,500 bond.
