Widening County Road 101 – Sumter County ecological stupidity

County Road 101 north of West Wood and directly west of Fox Run Golf Course is a beautiful bucolic lane with less than 50 cars per day is being widened with ecological butchery. The east side of the road is lined with majestic oak trees over 100 years old. The county engineers in their infinite lack of wisdom decided to take out the beautiful trees on the east side to widen the road rather than widen on the west side.
Why would they deliberately destroy such magnificent oaks and why was there no public notice or hearing of such plans. Why did they take out the most magnificent tree first which was over 25 feet in circumference rather than removing them in sequential order? The writer suspects the county is pulling a fast one? Why widen a road that has less than 50 vehicles per day? Why not widen on  the west side which is only pasture land?  This county road is classic “Old Florida” beauty. Stop the madness.
