Irene Delores Behounek, age 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 11, 2016, after living the past five years courageously with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Avoca, MI on June 5, 1934, Irene lived most of her life in Michigan before moving to The Villages in 2003.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Rudolph “Rudy” Behounek of The Villages, FL; children Michael (Shawn), Chris (Jim), Mark (Konni), Gregg (Randy) and Jeff (Karrie); sister Fran (Jim) Liddell; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

A loving wife and mother, Irene was a homemaker and talented artist. Always actively involved in one project or another, she energetically used her creative and artistic skills throughout her life. With her painting, sculpting, sewing, and other creative skills, there were no limits to what Irene could create. She was generous in sharing her creations with family and friends, her parish, and the communities in which she lived. Irene’s energy, creative talents, and loving heart added beauty to the lives of all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL 32159 on Thursday, June 16, 2016, from 2 – 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow at the Hiers-Baxley Reception Facility from 4 – 6 p.m.
