An 85-year-old grandfather was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly punched his grandson.
The altercation took place at the grandfather’s home in the Lakes of Lady Lake, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
After the alleged altercation, Daniel P. Vega got into his vehicle and left, but was pulled over by an officer on Teague Trail. He denied that a physical altercation had taken place, contending it had only been a verbal argument. He said he left to “cool off for a little while.”
Lake County Fire and EMS had been called to the home to evaluate the grandson. He had suffered scratches and bruises.
The grandmother witnessed the incident and backed up the grandson’s version of events.
Vega was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after positing $1,000 bond.
