Candidates for the U.S. Senate and Florida Senate have been invited to appear Thursday evening before a joint meeting of  The Villages Republican Club and The Villages of Marion County at Savannah Center.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Florida Senate candidates Dennis Baxley, David Gee and Marlene O’Toole have been invited to address the gathering.

U.S. Senate candidates were invited as well, but that race took several dramatic turns on Wednesday. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio announced he would be getting back into the race, reversing an earlier pledge he would not run. Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera and Congressman Ron DeSantis dropped their U.S. Senate candidacies. Congressman David Jolly had dropped his bid earlier, focusing instead on a Congressional race against former Gov. Charlie Crist.

You don’t have to be a club member to attend. Prospective members and those who want to learn more about the candidates are welcome.
