Bystanders pulled an accident victim from a SUV that had rolled over at 6:25 a.m. Friday on Interstate 75 near the Wildwood/State Road 44 exit.
The bystanders were able to pull the driver, 58-year-old Anthony Patterson of Orlando, from the wreckage.
Sumter County Fire & EMS arrived on the scene where a passenger, 75-year-old Snell Addie Wilson of Dothan, Ala., was still trapped in the vehicle, said Battalion Chief Rick Pitts. Crews were able to stabilize the vehicle and extricate Wilson within about 20 minutes. Patterson and Wilson were transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Patterson was ticketed on a charge of careless driving, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
