Dr. William “Bill” Dante Marcantoni, age 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 1, 1934, and was raised in Queens, NY. He attended St John’s University, and later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown University in 1959.

Bill practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Yorktown Heights, NY, where he was an active member of the community and his church. He was a member of the American Dental Association, Rotary Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He also generously donated dental services to the less fortunate, as well as school children and clergy in Yorktown Heights, NY. Later in life, Bill moved to The Villages, where he lived for the past sixteen years.

Bill also served his country, earning the rank of captain in the USAF, stationed in Tripoli, Libya and at McGuire AFB in New Jersey. In fact, while at Georgetown Dental School, Bill was selected to be a USAF Scholar, a very prestigious award.

Bill was an avid tennis player and golfer, who was known for his wit and good spirit on both the courts and the links. He also was very fond of teaching his grandchildren (and anyone else who would listen) how to properly strike a golf ball. He was a member of the Twisters Golf Group, a men’s golf club based in CT, and was an active participant in his neighborhood golf group in The Villages.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary L. Marcantoni of The Villages, FL; his children Dr. Henry W. Marcantoni and his wife Rosie of Austin, TX, Ann M. Disarro and her husband Patrick of Woodbury, CT, Paul D. Marcantoni of Oxford, FL, John P. Marcantoni and his wife Kim of Fredericksburg, VA and Susan T. Marcantoni and her husband Dana Gross of Arlington, VA; and his 9 grandchildren Justin, Alex, Thomas, Rebecca, Stephanie, Matthew, Nichole, Gabriella and Noah.

A visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 3 – 5 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Vincent dePaul Parish, 5323 East County Road 462, Wildwood, FL 34785 on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, Salvation Army or Paralyzed Veterans.
