Attorney determines payment to AAC members would be ‘unlawful’

An attorney for the Amenity Authority Committee has determined that payment for members’ service would be “unlawful.”

Attorney Lewis Stone said in a memo to District Manager Janet Tutt that the work of the AAC is fundamentally different than that of a city or county.

Earlier this year, three members of the AAC – Carl Bell, Don Deakin and John Wilcox – indicated they were interested in being compensated for their work. That prompted Stone to research the matter. AAC members Ann Forrester and Lowell Barker said they weren’t interested in compensation.

Members of the AAC are elected by landowners north of County Road 466.
