The kiosk program introduced in 2014 by suspended Marion County Sheriff Chris Blair is under investigation.
“As of Friday morning (7/15/16), the Marion County Sheriff’s Office removed all the crime prevention kiosks (147 in total) from businesses, public places and various other areas they were stationed in around Marion County. This decision was made as a result of information obtained from an on-going investigation currently being conducted by the State Attorney’s Office,” Marion County Sheriff Emery Gainey said in a statement.
Gainey was appointed in May to fill the vacancy created by Blair’s suspension after he was indicted on charges of perjury and official misconduct.
Blair introduced the kiosks in 2014 at a meeting of the Tri-County Tea Party at the American Legion Post in Lady Lake. You can read about that event HERE
