A 60-year-old Clermont man was critically injured when an apparent medical episode preceded his Jeep colliding into a utility pole Thursday night in on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
The man was reportedly heading back from a property in the Ocala National Forest to his home in Clermont when the accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 25.
He was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital and then taken by helicopter to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Crews worked throughout the night and most of Friday to replace the signal lights which came crashing down after the Jeep struck the pole.
