To the Editor:

We moved to The Villages just about 12 years ago when I was still a “young” 63. Before I qualified for Medicare, I found a primary physician for my wife & I with whom we have enjoyed a great relationship. When I/we became eligible for Medicare, I enrolled us both in a United Health Care “standard” supplement. Having spent many years as an attorney in the healthcare field, I knew instinctively that an HMO or a PPO was not for us. There were too many strings attached. And it is obvious that those “strings” are now being pulled as  The Villages Healthcare System will no longer recognize anything but the HMO known as the United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Plan. Although this does not affect us directly, I know too many people here who have been bamboozled by the “powers that be.”  And they are, indeed, bamboozling a lot of Villagers who were promised a certain “status” in their health care choices; and who are now being thrown under the bus. For Shame!! For Shame!!
