A 38-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly took a cell phone from a Village of Santo Domingo woman with whom she resides.

Jamie Shiloh Pettit was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of grand theft, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman reported that Pettit was allowed to use the cell phone in the home but was not permitted to take the phone from the home. She said Pettit left with the phone on Saturday.

The woman said Pettit would not answer calls she placed to the cell phone. When Pettit’s brother attempted to call the number, a man answered and said Pettit was not available, the report indicated.

When a deputy attempted to question Pettit, she claimed to be suffering chest pains and was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital.

After she was medically cleared, Pettit was booked at the Sumter County Detention where bond was set at $2,000.
