A 39-year-old resident of the Village of Belvedere arrested earlier this year after an attack on EMT will avoid prosecution after a deal struck in Sumter County  Court.

Roger Shane Gilbert who resides on Rosewell Place in The Villages had been arrested in March on a charge of battery. He had been accused of attacking an EMT who had arrived to treat his stepfather. Gilbert denied the attack, but witnesses backed up the EMT’s account. The EMT said he had been kicked in the groin. You can read about the original incident HERE

Last month, Gilbert agreed to enter into a Pre-Trial Intervention program. If he completes the terms of the program, the charge will be dismissed. He was represented by attorney Jaimie Washo.
