Linda Lewis

Linda Lewis, 68, of The Villages, FL, completed her journey on earth on September 13, 2016 at her home with family by her side.

Linda was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. Linda received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Louisiana State University.

Linda met her husband Allen at LSU and they married shortly after her graduation. For their tenth wedding anniversary Allen gave Linda her first horse. It was a gift that would ignite her true passion. Linda began riding horses competitively soon thereafter. Throughout her competitive riding career Linda competed across the country and won countless awards including a multitude of world championships. During her battle with cancer Linda continued to compete and win at an elite level and even won world championships during and after receiving chemotherapy.

Linda loved her horses, her friends, and most of all her family. Linda is survived by her children Christopher & Barbara Lewis of Houston, Texas; and Tamra & Tim Lloyd of Clermont, FL; grandchildren, Bella Lloyd, Brooklynne Lewis, Bailey Lloyd, and the twins, Colton and Avery Lewis, two brothers, John Stewart, Jr., of St. Petersburg, FL and Gary Stewart of Santa Ana, CA.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband Allen Eugene Lewis, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 4-6 p.m., at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11 a.m., located at St. George Episcopal Church, 1250 Paige Pl, Lady Lake, FL 32159.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.

Serious top-down management failure in The Villages
