A Mississippi construction worker was arrested after allegedly driving impaired on Sunday night on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.
A 911 caller alerted police to a pickup that had failed to maintain a lane at about 10:30 p.m.
Gregory Joseph Parrish, 39, of Biloxi, Miss. was pulled over at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Hartsock Sawmill Road. When asked why he had been unable to maintain a lane, Parrish said he was “tired” and had been trying to pull up his motel on his GPS and nudged the steering wheel in the process, according to an arrest report. He failed field sobriety exercises, but his breath sample registered .00 alcohol content. Lake EMS was summoned and took a blood sample. When his truck was being inventoried before towing, marijuana was discovered.
Parrish was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana. He was booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $3,000.
