Herbert Durant Gatch, 88, of The Villages, FL, passed away Tuesday, November 01, 2016. Mr. Gatch was born October 18, 1928 in Wiggins, SC to Joseph Durant and Mary Lucia (Tavel) Gatch. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had retired as a Signal Foreman from Seaboard Coastline Railroad. Herb moved to Wildwood in 1957 from Adams Run, SC. He was a member of the Wildwood United Methodist Church, NARVE and the Sumter 44 LIONS. Survivors include his son, Jake Gatch of Washington, DC; daughters, Sandra Stalnaker of Ocala, Robyn Priest (Bob) of Dallas, TX and Lori DeBord (Ken) of St. Cloud; brother, James Gatch of Summerville, SC; sister, Betty Inabinet of Hollywood, SC; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Herb was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jackie; daughter, Joyce Williams; sisters, Thelma Lee Muckenfuss and Myrtle Gatch; twin brother, Al Gatch. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016 in the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday in the Wildwood United Methodist Church with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery, Wildwood.
