Residents of The Villages are nervous about a new commercial development that they fear will be looming over them.
Homeowners on Tarrson Boulevard showed up Monday night at a special Lady Lake Commission meeting to learn more about the proposed development, Teague Plaza.
Last summer, Lawrence Breech owner of T-Lynne Properties LLC, acquired two parcels of land located 650 feet north of County Road 25 at Griffin Drive. He is also the owner of property across the street where Church @ The Springs has its Lady Lake/The Villages campus.
He is planning to build two 3,300-square-foot buildings that would provide 6,600 square feet of commercial/medical office space. On the second floor, the buildings will feature three apartments each with a proposed square footage of 1,000 feet.
The property backs up against homes on Tarrson Boulevard.
Lynn McGee purchased her home on Tarrson Boulevard 11 years ago. One of the most attractive features of the property was the fact that it backed up to a wooded area, she said.

However, those trees were recently bulldozed by the developer in anticipation of the construction of the new development.
Villager Butch Shoalts said he is fearful the building’s second-floor tenants will be looking down on his home and his neighbor’s homes.
“It gives you an uneasy feeling,” he said.
The developer has indicated he will build a wall that will serve as a buffer between their homes and the commercial development which will include more than 40 parking spots.
Monday’s conceptual presentation before the commission doesn’t provide for formal approval. That would come in future meetings if the developer plans to proceed with the project.
