Lady Lake police were able to track down and ticket a Villager’s daughter who left the scene of an automobile accident.
Kambry McNish, 26, of Lady Lake, notified police that her vehicle had been damaged in a hit-and-run accident on Nov. 18 at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Griffin View Drive. She had been able to shoot a photo of the other vehicle’s license plate with her cell phone.
Police went to the home of Villager Poppy Donnelly, the registered owner of the 2001 Toyota that left the scene. She said her daughter, 26-year-old Arrielle Grace Rawls, had been driving her vehicle at the time of the accident. Rawls was contacted by phone and went to the Lady Lake Police Department the following day.
She admitted she had been driving the car which had been involved in the accident, but claimed she left the scene because McNish began to “belittle and berate” her, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She said she never thought to call police and inform them of the accident.
She was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and for failure to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of obtaining employment in the state. She is due in Lake County Court on Dec. 8.
