A man with a wooden cross who had been walking and laying on the road was arrested on drug charges Monday night by Lady Lake police.
A police officer went to Arlington Avenue and Highland Trail shortly before 9 p.m. Monday where he spotted 35-year-old Nicholas Hammond of Palm Harbor.
The officer had asked Hammond to put down the cross and while he was putting it down, a bag of drugs fell to the ground. The drugs in the bag turned out to be methamphetamine, Clonazepam and Xanax.
He was arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.
