The “Earl” half of the “Earl and Pearl” arrest this summer, has landed back behind bars after skipping a court date.

Earl Michael Sprague, 24, of Lake Panasoffkee, was booked Saturday night at the Sumter County Detention Center on a pair of warrants charging him with failure to appear.

He had been arrested July 31 by Wildwood police after he was caught driving on State Road 44. Sprague was arrested on a felony charge of driving while license suspended/revoked.

In a green 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis with Sprague was Pearl Elizabeth Crowder, 23, of Wildwood, who had a valid driver’s license. When asked by the police officer why she wasn’t behind the wheel rather than Sprague, she said she wasn’t feeling well. Crowder was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
