A Community Development District supervisor is warning against a possible “all or nothing” approach to speed bumps on the multi-modal paths in The Villages.
“Speed bumps are like fingerprints. No two are the same,” said CDD 7 Supervisor Jerry Vicente at Thursday’s board meeting.
The Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group met earlier this month with the topic of speed bumps on the agenda. The group has decided to reach out to engineering firm Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. for some advice on the topic. You can read more about that meeting HERE
Most representatives on the Multi-Modal Path Discussion Group, which includes representation from CDDs 1 through 10 and the Amenity Authority Committee, have indicated their residents don’t want speed bumps.
But Vicente said some speed bumps perform a necessary purpose. He pointed to the speed bump CDD 7 installed in 2013 at the Havana tunnel. He said that speed bump was deemed necessary due to some golf carts “flying through” that location.
“There are certain locations where we have to be careful about taking them out,” Vicente said.
