Emergency personnel were on the scene of the accident on County Road 466.

Two elderly people were transported from the scene of a single-vehicle accident at about 2 p.m. Thursday on County Road 466, not far from the Village of La Zamora gate.

Their vehicle had been traveling west on County Road 466 when it left the roadway and crashed in a wooded area.

Early indications are the driver may have suffered a medical episode immediately before the crash occurred. A man and a woman were transported from the scene by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Lady Lake police and Lake Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the accident.

The crash comes almost exactly 24 hours after a two-vehicle collision tied up traffic on County Road 466 at very near the same location. An 85-year-old Villages resident was ticketed as a result of that accident. You can read about that crash HERE

The pair of collisions come at a time when traffic on County Road 466 is at the center of an emotional debate over a major housing and commercial development planned for County Road 466 and Cherry Lake Road. The proposed development was discussed at this past Monday’s Lady Lake Commission meeting. You can read about that meeting HERE
