Owen H. Pope, of The Villages, FL, died peacefully on December 11, 2016 at 78 years old. Owen was originally from Lapeer, MI. He moved to The Villages, FL in 1998 where he enjoyed his retirement years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret “Peggy” J. Pope of The Villages and two children: daughter Julie Pope of Baltimore, MD and son Todd (Beth) Pope of The Villages, FL. Two brothers, James (Shirley) Pope of Lapeer, MI and Keith (Marguerite) Pope of Lapeer, MI. He was a loving grandfather to three grandchildren: Megan (Carl) Suedhoff, Fredericksburg, VA, Kelley Pope, Lady Lake, FL and Spencer Pope, The Villages and three great-grandchildren, Evan, Carolyn, and Kenlee Suedhoff. Several nieces and nephews.
Owen received an Industrial Design Degree from Michigan State University and was a lifelong Spartan Fan! He was V.P. of manufacturing for Vesley Corporation and also V.P. of Voplex in Lapeer, MI. He enjoyed spending his summers at his cottage in Port Austin, MI. His favorite hobbies were fishing, boating and playing golf. Owen lived his life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by his family and friends!
