A 34-year-old man who lives in the Village of Hemingway is facing a charge of drunk driving after he was arrested in a BMW at a local car wash.

Lady Lake police had received a complaint about about the gray BMW shortly before 8 p.m. Dec. 10 which was parked at the Lady Lake Car Wash on U.S. Hwy. 27/441. When an officer asked the driver, identified as James Anthony Sosso, what he was doing, he replied, “I was just sitting here sobering up before I headed home.”
The officer observed empty beers cans underneath the car and a case of beer in the backseat.
Sosso failed field sobriety exercises and later provided a urine sample as part of the DUI investigation.
He told the officer he had come from his parents’ house and had been headed to “wherever I was parked,” the arrest report indicated. He said he had consumed five beers between 5 and 7 p.m.
He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
