Paul Anka’s career stretches back to the late 1950s and famed singer and songwriter will play The Sharon on March 13. Tickets go on sale Jan. 25.
Anka, 75, grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and scored his first big hit in 1957 with “Diana,” a song written about a baby sitter.

During the next few years, Anka became a certified teen idol with such hits as “Lonely Boy” and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder.” He wrote one of the last songs Buddy Holly recorded, “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore,” shortly before Holly’s death in a 1959 airplane crash.
Anka moved on to acting and playing nightclubs. He appeared in the film, “The Longest Day,” and earned an Academy Award nomination for writing the musical theme to the movie.
He later became close to Frank Sinatra, and wrote the all-time classic, “My Way,” for Sinatra. Anka also wrote the theme for Johnny Carson’s “Tonight Show.”
Anka still records, and his 2005 album, “Rock Swings…” offered up-tempo jazz and swing versions of hits by Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Bon Jovi, Oasis and Eric Clapton.
