To the Editor:
I would suggest that Ed Sullivan, whose Opinion piece appeared about “whining” celebrities decrying the election of Donald Trump, must be suffering from short-term memory problems,. He obviously does not remember the obstructionist avowals of Mitch McConnell, John Boehner et al. following Barack Obama’s election in 2008 and his repeat performance in 2012 in both of which he not only won the Electoral College vote, but the popular vote as well. Yet Congressional Republicans tried their best during the eight years of the Obama presidency to thwart any and all efforts of the President to initiate or enact any programs, policies and legislation by the president. And this, despite the fact that he had inherited an abysmal economy caused by George W. Bush (the worst recession since 1929); two unwinnable wars both in Iraq and Afghanistan caused by the same GWB which added trillions of unreimbursable dollars to the national debt; and caused the loss of status of the USA on a global scale. I would suggest that Mr. Sullivan pull his head out of the sand!
