The District is exploring the possibility of trucking in lime rock from the Village of Fenney as part of a project to shore up the embankment of the Morse Boulevard Bridge.
The Village of Fenney is under construction about three miles down County Road 468 from State Road 44.
The Project Wide Advisory Committee last year voted to move ahead with a $1.7 million rock revetment project to shore up the embankment which has experienced sloughing over the past few years.
Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management told PWAC members on Monday that he had met with Richard Busche of Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. and a coastal engineer about the use of the lime rock. Drop tests were performed on the lime rock and it met the standard.
About 25,000 tons of lime rock will be needed for the Morse Bridge rock revetment project.
The lime rock would be used in sizes ranging from 300 to 600 pounds.
PWAC member Ron Ruggeri of Community Development District 7 asked if bringing the lime rock in from the Village of Fenney in CDD 12 would result in savings on the overall tab of the project.
Wartinbee indicated it’s too soon to have a clear picture of any potential savings.
