Official to investigate disputed ownership of section of Wales Plaza on Historic Side

The town manager of Lady Lake will investigate the ownership of about 300 feet of Wales Plaza on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Lowell Barker, who lives on Schwartz Boulevard on the Historic Side, brought his concern about the condition of the roadway Wednesday evening to the attention of the Lady Lake Commission.

“It’s awful, it’s got terrible potholes,” Barker said. “If you run over them with your cart, it’s going to damage your cart.”

Barker said it’s been difficult to determine who owns the stretch of roadway. He said both Lake County and The Villages have denied responsibility for it.

Town Manager Kris Kollgaard said that years ago, The Villages deeded the roadway over to Lake County, but that the county does not have any record of it.

Kollgaard said she would talk to county officials about the issue.
