Recently, we have seen several instances where Lady Lake Commissioner Paul Hannan has carried himself in such a manner that is unprofessional and simply rude, going as far as referring to an entire volunteer advisory board as “dysfunctional” and abruptly leaving their meeting due to his displeasure and later making public comments about such at a town commission meeting.

As a former candidate for the office of Lady Lake Town Commission, I learned, first hand, the level of decorum and professionalism one must possess to hold that office.

Unfortunately, Commissioner Hannan lacks these traits and seems to have forgotten he is a public servant, and as such, his actions represent the people of Lady Lake, and more specifically his geographical Ward. Public, rather than personal, opinion should be the basis of his concerns and he should refrain from allowing his emotions to control his behavior while serving the public just as he was elected to do.
