Woman arrested after running red light, nearly causing accident near McDonald’s restaurant

A 35-year-old Lady Lake woman was arrested Friday night after running a red light and nearly causing an accident near McDonald’s on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.

Sommer D. Beckel had been driving at 8:36 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and made a left turn through a red light almost causing an accident, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When questioned by a police officer, Beckel said she had not been paying attention and “could not believe” she had done what she had done, the arrest report said.

The officer discovered that Beckel’s license had been suspended as of 2012 and she had been classified as a habitual offender.

She was arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
