Emergency responders were called Wednesday night to Village Crossroads shopping center on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake to check out a bomb discovered by restaurant employees.
Employees spotted a backpack in the store. They checked it out, saw some wires and it was leaking a warm fluid so they called 911.
The bomb unit was called in and used a robot to determine it was not harmful. It was determined to be an abandoned backpack.
Lady Lake police, Lake County Fire Rescue and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Rolling Acres Road was blocked off by the Villages Woodworking shop to keep the public at a safe distance.
