Son arrested after going on spending spree with credit card stolen from mother’s home

A 29-year-old who lives with his mother was arrested after buying hundreds of dollars worth of alcohol on his mother’s credit card without permission.

Brett Barton Moorhouse allegedly tiptoed into his mother’s bedroom at 2 a.m. Friday while she was asleep and took his mother’s ATM/debit card, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He made $307.18 in transactions.

He was later arrested at the Rolling Acres Apartments on County Road 466. At that time, he surrendered the card to a police officer. He admitted he had used it for alcoholic purchases.

He was arrested on a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card. He was already on probation at the time of his arrest.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
