A Village of De La Vista resident told Community Development District 1 supervisors Friday morning that bone-dry conditions in the Hudson Morse Parr Preserve could be a fire hazard.
“The drought has really been hitting hard. The preserve is pretty much a mud flat in our area. It’s a fire waiting to happen,” said Mary Corell, who has lived on Durango Drive for 20 years.
Residents of CDD 1 had packed a town hall meeting last year where the deterioration of the wetlands was the hot topic. You can read more about that HERE.
Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management said a meeting will take place Monday with Jeff Pardue of Breedlove, Dennis and Associates, who acts as a consultant to the District and under another agreement works with the Developer. The topic of the meeting will be how much cutting back of vegetation will be allowed at the preserve under the existing permit.
“We need rain,” said CDD 1 Supervisor Kathy Porter.
