A 25-year-old man was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened a woman with his 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday to a home on NE 91st Place in Wildwood.

There they found Hector R. Lopez Hernandez who offered a deputy a Mexican identification card when he was asked for an ID.

They also found a 9mm silver semi-automatic pistol in the kitchen trash can. The pistol was loaded with a 9mm round in the chamber and eight more 9 mm rounds in the magazine, which was locked into place inside the gun’s grip. The gun’s safety was also disengaged. A second magazine was found in the kitchen trash.

Lopez Hernandez had entered the home and had been looking for a woman who later told deputies she had been in fear for her life and sought refuge at a neighbor’s trailer, an arrest report indicated.

Lopez Hernandez was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $8,000 bond.
