A local dressage rider was arrested after her pickup truck left the roadway, struck multiple fences and snapped a utility pole in half in an accident shortly at about 11 p.m. Wednesday in Marion County.

Jennifer Anne Albright, 56, told an accident investigator that she had been talking on the phone with a friend before the accident occurred on County Road 464B, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

When emergency personnel, including Marion County Fire Rescue, arrived on the scene, they saw that Albright’s white Dodge Ram pickup had snapped a utility pole in half and it was being supported solely by high-tension wires. A utility crew was called to the scene and the roadway was shut down.

Albright, who has competed in numerous dressage events in the area, told an investigator that the last thing she remembered was talking on the phone with a friend, the report indicated. The investigator noticed that her speech was slurred and detected the smell of alcohol. She presented the investigator with a Texas driver’s license.

She failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .183 and .174 blood alcohol content.

She was was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence as well as two counts of DUI property damage.

She was booked at the Marion County Jail.
