The eighth installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise is car-crashing mayhem, five smashes too long.
A record 169 cars are demolished or in need of extensive repair during the filming of “The Fate of the Furious.” While this is nothing new for the franchise, it does get tiresome.
Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are pitted against each other, dueling with fists and in powerful race cars from start to finish.
Since both are classically muscular and bald, it is hard to tell who is who.
Do not expect a cogent plot. Love interest is trivial. This film is a ‘car wreck’em’ flick from start to finish and produced solely for car racing thrill seekers. Other sane people, stay away. Grade C minus.
The movie is currently playing at the Rialto Theater in The Villages.
