A District official confirmed on Friday that a church in The Villages will no longer welcome dog walkers on its property.

The First Baptist Church at The Villages has long been popular with dog walkers, offering room to roam at its spacious property on County Road 42.

But that is about to come to an end.

A timetable for the church’s prohibition on dogs was not revealed when the matter was discussed at the meeting of the Community Development District 4 Board of Supervisors.

Earlier this year, a Villager’s son was sentenced in a baseball-bat attack on a fellow dog walker that took place last year at the church property. You can read about his sentence HERE
