Susan L. Ferguson, 67, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017.
Suzy was born in Oak Park, IL on July 16, 1949 to Marlette & William Harkins. She had fond memories of growing up with her brother William at Ringstmeyer Steakhouse, their family restaurant in Franklin Park. She graduated from East Leyden H.S. in 1967 where she met life-long friends, frequented Gene & Judes, and enjoyed hanging out with her fellow Radells. Suzy married Dominic Adorno and had two boys, Anthony (Angela) and Dominic (Lisa). In 1981, she married James Ferguson and added two daughters to her family, Maureen (John) and Deborah (William).
Suzy worked most of her career as a real estate property manager. Hard at work, hard at play, that was her motto. She loved her many trips to Las Vegas with her mother until her passing in 1999, and cruising the Caribbean with Jim and their friends. In retirement Suzy gained five grandchildren who she adored – Kenneth, Jonna, Isabel, Joey, & Amelia. Suzy was a wonderful grandmother.
Suzy and Jim moved to The Villages, Florida in 2003 where they made many friends, and remained happily married until his passing in 2005. Suzy’s father William and step-mother Louise also moved to The Villages, where Louise remains today after William’s passing in 2010.
Suzy would later meet Paul Giese. Paul and Suzy enjoyed each other’s company for several years until his passing in 2015.
Suzy died peacefully her home on May 26th surrounded by her loving family. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, friend, and fun-loving grandmother who enjoyed cooking and entertaining others. Suzy was a ball of sunshine – full of laughter, kindness, and generosity. She had a big heart and an infectious laugh that will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank everyone in The Villages community who have provided support to Suzy, Jim, and our family over the years. Your love, kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
A memorial gathering with reception will take place at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162 on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan Ferguson Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, The Villages, FL, for the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for the Piedmont Community.
