79-year-old man critically injured when golf cart struck by car in Village of Glenbrook

A 79-year-old was critically injured when his golf cart was struck by a car Wednesday morning in the Village of Glenbrook.

Richard J. Bolender had been at the wheel of a 2000 Parr Car at 9:50 a.m. westbound on Talley Ridge Drive and pulled into the automobile lane to make room for a pedestrian, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2005 Buick LeSabre driven by 43-year-old Tara Malara of The Villages had been westbound behind the golf cart and struck it when it entered her lane, the report indicated. The golf cart struck a curb and overturned. Bolender was ejected from the golf cart which overturned onto him.

He was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Malara, and a two-year-old girl traveling in the car with her, escaped injury.
