A sinkhole opened up Saturday morning at a home in the Village of Liberty Park.
The Villages Public Safety Department and Community Watch responded at about 11:30 a.m. to the home in the 1300 block of Abercrombie Way where a sinkhole opened up in the landscaping area next to the front door of the home. The sinkhole was estimated to be 30 feet deep.
Yellow tape was put up, encircling the home. The 77-year-old woman who lives in the home has been forced to evacuate.
Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management on Friday said drought followed by sudden, heavy rain make conditions ripe for sinkholes to occur.
Over Easter weekend in 2014, a sinkhole in the Village of Buttonwood made national headlines.
