Cynthia Susan Talbot Cavanagh, 76, The Villages, Florida, formally of Norwell, MA passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017. Cynthia was born in Worcester Massachusetts on Oct 17, 1939.
She received her Bachelor’s degree from North Adams State, and her Masters from Wellesley. She was an English teacher at Tahanto Regional High School, Boylston, before travelling to Gelnhausen, Germany where she taught English at a Military base. Cynthia moved to the South Shore and worked in the Weymouth School system, where she met her late husband George Cavanagh, who was part of the Norwell Fire Dept. Cynthia then became the head of the computer education in Weymouth before retiring about 14 years ago when she moved to The Villages.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her husband Chief George Cavanagh, who died June 5th, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Alexander Talbot of Worcester; her sister Margaret Johnson and her brother Walter Talbot. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lee Watkins, and son – in-law Robert Watkins of Sutton, MA; her son James Edward Cavanagh, and daughter-in-law Lori Cavanagh, Plympton MA; her Niece Margaret Johnson and partner Victoria Anderson of Lowell, MA, and her niece Heather Gabriel of N. Grafton, MA. She is also survived by several great nieces, nephews.
Cynthia was a fabulous cook, an avid bridge player, enjoyed entertaining, enjoyed her friends from the Villages, her friends in Norwell and her gang from Gelnhausen. Cynthia was known for her New Year’s Day parties both in The Villages and in Norwell. But her passion was her husband and her family. She enjoyed county fairs with their Oxen, Frying pan tosses with “the girls”, and big picnics on holidays in her yard.
A memorial service will be held at Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Saturday,June 17, 2017 at 1 p.m. A burial will be held in July in Norwell, MA.
