A 37-year-old man who lives with his mother in the Village of Osceola Hills has been placed on six months probation in connection with a theft case at Wal-Mart.
Christopher John Reale, who lives at 3953 Zenith Loop, recently served a 15-day jail sentence in a separate case.
Last week in Sumter County Court, Reale entered a plea of no contest to a charge of petit theft this past week in Sumter County Court.
In March, he was arrested at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza. He allegedly took a $29.92 iPad case out of its packaging and placed it on his iPad, an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office indicated. He then went to the auto department where he put two packs of sandpaper in another pack so he would only have to pay for the price of one. He then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Reale told a deputy that the sandpaper was priced too high, so he put two packages into one so he’d only have to pay for one. He said he put the iPad case on his iPad and was going to purchase it later, but failed to do so.
A criminal history check revealed Reale had a previous guilty conviction for petit theft in 2007 in New York from South Hampton Town Police Department.
