A 39-year-old Lakeside Landings woman has been arrested after allegedly draining $900 from a 72-year-old woman’s bank account using forged checks.
Heather Marie Small is facing multiple felony charges of fraud and forgery after her arrest Monday afternoon by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.
She attempted to cash a check from the woman’s account at the JP Morgan Chase branch on Parr Drive in The Villages on May 24, but fled the location when there was a delay in cashing the check. She had already cashed fraudulent checks at that location and the JP Morgan Chase bank in Pinellas Plaza.
Bank employees were able to identify Small in a photo lineup.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
