A 37-year-old Fruitland Park man, arrested in May in connection with the theft of a ladder from a Villager, has landed back behind bars on fresh drug charges.

Bobby Chance Chavis was arrested Friday morning by Lady Lake police on charges of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended.

Chavis was spotted behind the wheel of car by police officers who knew he had a suspended license. A black box under the passenger seat of his car contained numerous needles and spoons. One needle contained a brown-colored liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine. He had a baggie in his pocket that contained heroin, according to the arrest report.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $4,500 bond.

In 2015, Chavis was arrested for driving without a license on Odell Circle in The Villages.
